DBM(Watkins

I made it in 1984 for my AO10 mode-L satellite communication activity.
The cavity type converter unit of the Maki electric company was used. The
DBM (M6G of Watkins Johnson) and an amplifier of five stage bipolar transistors
(56dB gain, final 2SC2850) provided RF output of 4Watts. The down-link
signal was always very weak, and the reports I received from the satellite
enthusiastic gentlemen was usually 519-539, though I up-linked using 20turns
helix antenna of my own making. It was exactly QRP communication via the
satellite.
Though this transverter was only used as the transmitter for the Mode-L
up-link, the receiving sensitivity was confirmed to reach a practical level
in the bench measurement.
