高校時代に製作し、4～5年間使ったＶＨＦ受信コンバータ（クリコン）が古い物入れから出てきた。随分前に廃棄したつもりだったので、少し嬉しいやら懐かしいやら。小さなものなので、他の部品に紛れて廃棄処分を免れたらしい。あのころVHFの真空管式コンバータを複数製作した覚えがあるが、これは6m用の二台目である。中学3年の時に作った初号機のRFアンプは双三極管カスコードアンプで、ローカルのJA0BBBから貰った6BQ7Aを手始めに、6RHH2、6DJ8などに順次交換しながら数年間突っつき回した覚えがある。6DJ8では上手に中和が取れず、発振の不安定さを解消できなかった。そのため二号機はカスコードアンプではなく、五極管の5654(6AK5)を使っている。親受信機からAGCを掛けるため、当初リモートカットオフの6BZ6を使ったが、50MHzでは思った以上に感度が悪くて5654に変更した。混合は低NF指向の三極管mixerで、最初はV・UHFハンドブックにあった5654の３結だったが、後にHigh gmの6HA5に交換した。局発は6C4で43MHzのオーバートーン水晶を発振させている。シャーシは1mmアルミ板を切り曲げして作った。シリンダトリマやダストコア入りコイルボビンなどの部品類は、どれも廃棄されたテレビから取り出して再利用したもの。これと言って特徴のないコンバータだが、半世紀ぶりに対面すると、そんな所に愛着を感じてしまう。雑音指数は測定してないが、コンバータ単体で5dB程度だと思われる。1972年製作。

This is a VHF converter which was made in my high school days. It was found in the old case recently. I remember that I made several VHF converters at that time, and this is the second one for 50MHz AM and FM activity. The RF amplifier of the converter made first was a cascade type of twin triodes. And the remembrance with which I meddled for a year is here while exchanging it for 6RHH2 and 6DJ8 in sequence with the 6BQ7A I got from JA0BBB of my local as a beginning. Amplification was unstable because neutralizing was incomplete in case of 6DJ8. Therefore 5654 (6AK5) of pentode is used in this converter. The mixer was triode of low NF, and the beginning was 5654(triode connection), but it was exchanged for 6HA5 of high gm later. The local oscillator is 6C4 triode with overtone crystal of 43MHz. I made the chassis with 1mm aluminum sheet by myself, and the cylinder trimmer capacitors and coil bobbins were all took out from abrogated television sets and reused. I'm deeply attached at such. Noise figure isn't being measured, but I'm presuming that it's about 5dB. Making was in 1972.
