Owen Garriott/W5LFL astronaut of NASA made the ever first amateur radio
operation in the space shuttle STS9 in November, 1983. When I was watching
the frequency(2m FM) according to the prior orbit information, an announcement
of native English as "whisky five London fox London" was coming
in. Many Japanese amateurs called after it, so his signal couldn't be caught
again. In other words, QSO was not successful. But, after I sent the tape
to NASA, a QSL card has been sent to me after a while. That's the proof
which Garriott made an actual 2m transmission in the Japanese sky.
