030: Dual tracking DC power supply (JA0TAQ)

 JA0TAQ中村さんが1970年代に製作したこの電源は、ご自身が行う各種のオペアンプ回路テストや差動アンプの実験のために用意したものと思われます。当時はまだ電源専用ICが出る前の時代でしたが、汎用オペアンプなどを使ってディスクリートで自作したアマチュアは多かったと思います。その中でも中村さんの製作品は出色の出来映えで、パネル外観は勿論のこと、内部PCBの実装から全体結線まで大変美しく、メーカー製と見まがうようなレベル。手抜きをせずきちんと仕事を進めた中村さんの人柄が伺えます。

・電圧可変範囲は最小±4V~最大±30Vと大変ワイドなリニアレギュレータです(μA741の出力を2SA706/2SC1124/2SD88で電流ブースト)
・過電流保護回路には制限電流の連続可変機能が付加されており、最小10mAから最大0.6AまでVRで自在に設定可能で、これは正負別々に設定できます。
・正負セパレート制御かトラッキング制御かをスイッチで切換えできるため、いろんな電圧レベル設定を必要とするような実験には至極好都合です。

 当局がこれを譲り受けてから早20年になりますが、±5V~±24V、+5V/+13.5V同時供給などこの一台で全部対応できるので、各種実験には大変重宝しており、中村さんに感謝しつつ今でも常時電源オンで使用中です。



Nakamura-san/JA0TAQ (SK) made this power supply in the 1970s for various op-amp circuit tests and differential amplifier experiments that he carried out for himself. At that time, it was still before dedicated power supply ICs were available, so many amateurs made their own discrete power supplies using general-purpose op amps and the like. Among them, Mr. Nakamura's product was outstanding, not only in terms of the panel appearance, but also in terms of its beauty, from the internal PCB mounting to the overall wiring, which could be mistaken for a product made by a commercial manufacturer. This product shows his personality, who worked with sincerity and did not cut corners.

(1)It is a very wide linear regulator with a voltage adjustable range from ±4V min. to ±30V max. (Since μA741 alone cannot provide much output current, use 2SA706/2SC1124/2SD88 for current boosting.)

(2)The overcurrent protection circuit has a continuously variable current limit function, which can be freely set with variable resistors from a minimum of 10 mA to a maximum of 0.6 A for each positive and negative output.

(3)The ability to switch between positive/negative separate control and dual tracking control is extremely convenient for experiments that require a variety of voltage level settings.

It has been 20 years since I received it, and since it can handle ±5V to ±24V and also +5V/+13.5V simultaneous supply, it has been very useful for various experiments. I am still using this set with power on all the time, thanks to Mr. Nakamura.
