このアンテナは1979年にJA1FGAを川崎の自宅に訪ねた際、三村さんから記念にとプレゼントされたもの。（三村さんは同じ松本市の出身で親戚筋になる。機器の自作が得意で、私が開局した時には物心両面で援助して頂いた。）このアンテナ自体はハム用に市販する前のJA1FGA手製プロトタイプで、メッキ仕上げの量産品は実際にハム月販から発売されたから、秋葉原店頭で見かけた記憶がある。
TX､RX 004にあるFMトランシーバとのコンビで使ってみると、ローカルラグチュー用にはとても具合が良く、以降80年代は二階シャックの棚の上に置いてずっと使っていた。ディスコーンは非共振タイプの進行波型アンテナだから広帯域なのが特徴だと言われるが、自分は終ぞ430MHz帯でしか使ったことが無かったから今回ワイドレンジでリターンロスを測ってみた。その結果は、ハムバンドの430MHzではVSWR1.3以下（RL≧18dB）までFBに落ちている一方、広帯域受信用に用いる場合の実用域（RL≧6dB、VSWR3.0以下）は380MHz～1120MHzと予想よりやや狭かった。ネット上の解説を読むと、ディスコーンは進行波型とは言え最低周波数付近では共振型として働くらしい。ディスク部直径が172mm、コーン部は頂角60°で高さが220mmのこのアンテナはドンピシャで70cm帯に共振しているのだろう。
三村さんとはその後法事などでお会いする機会もあり、HFでは何回か交信してもらったが、数年前にsilent keyになられた。大切にしていた青いパネルのHammarlund製受信機を私に見せてくれた時の笑顔が懐かしい。
When visiting at Mr. Mimura/JA1FGA in Kawasaki in 1979, he presented this
antenna to commemoration for me. This antenna was very convenient for contacts
with my local stations. I placed it on the shelf of my shack and used it
long in 1980s.
Because it's an antenna of travelling-wave type, they say that the discone
antenna works in a wide frequency range, so I measured return-loss at a
wide frequency range this time. The VSWR is less than 1.3 (18 dB of RL)
at 430MHz of ham band. On the other hand, the practical range when using
for broadband reception (RL >= 6 dB and VSWR less than 3.0), was 380MHz-1120MHz
and narrower than expected. It's written on the net that a discone works
as a resonance type of antenna around the lowest frequency. Probably, this
antenna should be resonating on 70cm band correctly.
I worked JA1FGA several times on 40m SSB, and I met him also on the ground
after that. He passed away several years ago, and is now silent key. He
made a Hammarlund receiver of blue front panel important. I remember his
smiling face when showing it to me in 1979.
